Research activities

Visiting professors

Hafissatou KANE is a senior lecturer at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar, Senegal. She holds a PHD in English and African linguistics and grammar. She specializes in English and Wolof grammar, codeswitching, contact linguistics and bilingualism. Her research has been supported by the Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA and the German Research Foundation (DFG) programs. Her current projects include the linguistic, psycholinguistic, and corpus analysis of Wolof-French and Wolof-English codeswitching.

Graduate Achievements

We are pleased to announce that our colleague Andrea Olivares-Beltrán has successfully defended her PhD dissertation on February 6th 2026. Congratulations to Dr. Olivares-Beltrán on this important achievement.
PhD Candidate Michela Gentile has successfully completed her PhD comprehensive exam, titled Inflection and Derivation in Italian and Spanish N-N Compounds: A Psycholinguistic Approach.
PhD Candidate ​Michela Gentile has been awarded the 2025 Excellence Award for Support Staff by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
